Policies
Physiotherapists in this practice will discuss your condition and options for treatment so that you are appropriately informed and can make decisions regarding your treatment. You have the right to consent to or refuse any treatments proposed by your treating Physiotherapist, and once given consent may be withdrawn at any time.
As with all forms of treatment, there are risks and benefits to you. Your treating Physiotherapist should discuss any foreseeable risks with you prior to administering treatment. You may also ask questions at any time.
It is your responsibility to let us know of any other health conditions as they may impact on the level of risk associated with some treatments and will help us to better manage your condition. Relevant conditions include (but are not limited to): Heart conditions and pacemakers, previous blood clots or stroke, pregnancy and any medications you are currently taking.
From time to time it is necessary for your physiotherapist to exchange information with your doctor, other physiotherapists in our practice and other medical specialists in order to assess and treat you accurately. Your information will be kept confidential. It is important that you expressly inform us if there are parts of your medical history that you do not want discussed with other relevant medical professionals.
Out of respect for our physiotherapists and others, please turn off your mobile phone during your consultation.
Patients who have not been in to see one of our physiotherapists for more than 3 months must book in for an Assessment Consultation, even if you are returning with the same injury. This is to allow for more time with the physiotherapist that may be required to assess the current status of the injury and develop an effective treatment plan accordingly.
Please notify the receptionist on duty when booking in if you have a complex injury, or wish to see a physiotherapist for an hour long consultation. If you have more than one injury, you will need to book in an extended consultation (60 mins). Please note that we are not able to treat more than one injury in a standard consultation effectively.
Please note that treatment charges and additional fees for the cost of materials (eg splints, casts) are payable at the time of service.
Due to the fact that we provide one-on-one, hands on consultations and set aside time exclusively for you, failure to attend an appointment will be charged at the full consultation fee rate. Appointments cancelled within 24hrs will be charged 50% of the consultation fee. Appointments cancelled more than 24hrs before the consultation time will incur no charge. Please respect our time and give us as much notice as possible when you need to cancel or move an appointment time.
Due to the increasing cost of supplies we need to charge for materials when strapping. For patients currently undergoing treatment, simple strapping will cost $10 without a consultation and $20 for a complex strapping. While normal appointment slots are unnecessary for strapping, a suitable time must be arranged with the physiotherapist via reception. Patients not directly being cared for by Mosman Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre will NOT be strapped without consultation.
Consumables like tape are available for purchase. For prices, ask at the reception.
Private Health Insurance rebates can be claimed on the spot if you bring your card to your consultation.
Please note all patients under Insurance, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance, Veterens Affairs and Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program will not be able to select their physiotherapist. They will be assigned dependent on current caseloads.
EPC program consultations will be charged at our normal fees and are payable at the time of consultation. For your convenience, we can reimburse the Medicare rebate (approx. $58.30) onto a debit card at the time of consultation, or we can provide receipts for you to take to Medicare if you do not have a debit card.
WC/CTP clients will need to provide required information for proof of claim prior to your first appointment. Get in touch with us so we can direct you to what is required. Without this finalised paperwork, you will be responsible for paying your invoices privately at the time of service.
